Welcome all current & past Fragas!

I thought it might be fun to start a blog for the Fraga Family (and extended family). There are so many of us now ... as our children are having children, etc. It would be nice for us all to stay in touch at the click of a mouse! We can share experiences, ideas, problems, photos ... the sky's the limit! I don't have everyone's email, so those of you to whom I send info about the blog, please share with your children & grandchildren, inlaws & outlaws. I'm new to this, but plan to upload photos or other stuff I think might be interesting to all us Fragas out there!

  1. Yay!!! thank you soooo much, Margie, for getting this started. I know I had volunteered to ask Taylor to show me the ropes about setting up a blog...and we started to awhile back and then got distracted.

I think this blog is a GREAT idea and hopefully will become a 'habit' for all of us...checking, adding, etc...

Right now I am up in Soda Springs at a condo rented by my sister in law. She is in Santa Cruz with her girls for Thanksgiving and asked us if we wanted to use the place for a few days for the holiday...so here we are, all four of us...Taylor flew up last night from Orange...and our friends Marilyn and Connor are here too...a few snow flurries makes it feel very holiday-like. Everyone is watching one of the Harry Potter movies right now...and we are getting ready to have birthday cake...it is Connor's 20th birthday today! Dori, doesnt't it seem like just a few years ago that Connor arrived at SF airport???!!! Good grief.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and again, thanks so much Margie!!!

    Love and hugs to all.

  2. Hi family!! The Fragas are so hip :) we have our own blog! This is a great way for me to stay in touch with everyone, I keep in contact with Allyson and Andrew via Facebook so I'll send them the link. And I'll help my parents figure this out in the morning hehe...Happy Thanksgiving everybody! xoxo Katie

  3. Allow me to be the first Fraga male to sign in for this blog...! I'm sure this will be more used by they chicks....but once in a while I may grace you with my comments! A very happy Thanksgiving to all...! Looking forward to seeing many of you in February at the gala 60th event!

  4. What a great idea this is! Thanks Margie! Happy Thanksgiving to all. We are going to Maureen's for a get together. Hope everyone is well. Having two teenagers has us going bigtime! We are all doing fine. Keith is a senior and going through all the college app processes, etc, what a maze that is! Chad just finished his first year of Varsity football and did well, started at center all year, they made the playoffs, but lost 1st rd to a strong Merced team. Now onto wrestling (which I think is his prime sport), he is captain of the team. He has been consistantly on the mat since 6 yrs old, so it is now his prime time to do his thing. Anyone who wants to see him wrestle, just let me know and I can send the schedule. Judy is at Marshalls in Stockton as an asst mgr. That is going well, as good as it can be in retail. I have now been gone from Safeway for almost a year. I am enjoying being my own boss. It all has its ups and downs just like anything. But the business is thankfully growing in this poor ecconomy. I am very thankfull for being part of such a great family, I love you all very much! Thanks agin for setting this up Margie!

  5. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We had Jeff, Judy, Chad and Keith here for the big meal and now I am ready to drop dead! Tomorrow we are going up to Pyramid Lake by Reno to fish on a guided fishing boat (now that's my kind of fishing..no worries...just reel'em in!) It will be a fun few days away.

I just started being a substitute teacher at James and Daniel's school, Turlock Christian. So far I really like it. Next year I am hoping to teach French there and I am VERY excited about that!!

James just finished playing Varsity football and he did really well. He got awarded All League and Most Improved. I am just thankful he got through it without any major injuries! Now I have to worry about his driving..he just got his permit. Yikes!

Daniel is doing great in school..still enjoying legos and video games and just as tall as Anna.

Anna started traditional school this year and is doing great so far.

Oh, how about getting together for an after Christimas celebration, say January 3rd at my place? Let me know how that works for everyone. Thanks.

  6. This is such a great way for the Fraga family to keep in touch! I guess I should talk--considering I am the farthest away : ( All is well here in New England. I am finishing up my Elementary Education degree and will finally graduate in May!

Yesterday Steve and I decided to brave the crowd and head to New York to watch the parade. It was such a fun experience, but sure exhausting by the time we got home last night.

I am heading home to Ohio for Christmas to see my dad, mom, and brother. I just got promoted at work so that will be my first chance to get some vacation time. I think my dad may be getting more tech-savy, maybe I will mention this to him and see if he can log on to it!

My mom, brother and I are also planning (and saving) for a long trip out west either in the spring or summer! Since I am so far away from California, the holidays are sometimes rough. I miss all of my family so much, so I think this blog is a great way to keep in touch as best as we can with all of our busy lives!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. If you are ever in the New England area, don't forget you are always welcome!

    Love and hugs xoxo

Sooooo great to hear from you! Would love to include your Mom & Dad (and Andrew) in this "blogging" thing - would appreciate your passing it on to them since I don't have emails for them. Sure would love to see you when you visit in '09 - but sure to include us in your itinerary! Miss not seeing all your family for so very long, but we LOVED getting all your "update" last Christmas. Steve sounds like a great guy and it sounds like you two are a lot more than just an "item" - :) Gotta run - but will promise to stay in touch now that we have this blog. I'm an email type person since I'm online at least a dozen times a day because of the business. Check out our website at www.thvr.com

    Love,

  8. Happy Thanksgiving to all. It was great to talk to some of you yesterday and I too am so looking forward to keeping in better touch this coming year.
Had all the fam here and they were able to see the pics from our trip to Africa. We could have gone on all day and night, but had to cut it off somewhere. So cozy to have everyone here.
    More next time...
    Peace and Noel Blessings!!

I'm working on the Friday night get-together for you and Lauren (and the rest of the Lang brood! :) I think it may work out. The parade here in Twain Harte is soooo much fun - very small-town and lots of cool stuff going on. I'm hoping that you and Lauren can get together and that we can come back here to my place for some hot chocolate and cookies and ... whatever. I'll plan for the 2 of you to stay overnight here. I hope it all works out. I'll keep you in the loop.
    Love you,
    Aunt Margie

Your Mom has shared several recent photos and you must be soooo proud! We are expecting our 6th grandchild in April - John's son, Marc, and his wife Sally are expecting a boy in April. Another male Lang to carry it on! :) Please know that you and Joe are welcome to bring the family up here for maybe a snow thing in the winter. We'd LOVE to have you come and visit. Let's keep this family in touch! :) :)

  16. Back to back duel meets to start the season for Chad. He is up at the heavyweight class for a week or so. He is 2-0 with 2 pins. Had fastest pin ever Tue night at Tokay HS....16sec. Tonight he faced a 281 pounder from Edison HS.....pin in 2nd period, kid never scored on him was like 7-0 at time of pin. Yes I have it all on video. I will keep updating this wrestling stuff. Wonder who is more into it? Him or Dad?

  17. Hello All,
Time for us to jump on the Fraga Train.

Luke had his first CYO basketball game this morning. They won! Steve is the coach. No surprise there.

St. Nicholas came for a visit last night. He left Luke the Wall-E dvd. He's watching it now. He loves that movie.

Our biggest news is that Steve just started as Sgt. in the VCI unit. That's Violent Crimes Investigations. This is a new challenge and will either keep him young or give him grey hair. We'll see.

We had my side of the family up for Thanksgiving, but the week before we hosted a retirement party for our good friend from the police dept. We had 50 people over. It was a huge success. But now we are tired!

John was home for Thanksgiving. It was good to hear his guitar music again. He has rediscovered mountain biking and has been tearing up the trails in Chico.

I have been cycling and Nordic Walking each week. One of my cycling friends suddenly got spinal menengitis and is in serious condition in the hospital. Plese keep her in your prayers.

We love that this forum is available for us to keep in touch with everyone so easily. We can't wait to hear all of your news.

    Hugs,
    Kelli and Steve

  18. Hello all -

Kelly - So nice you've joined in! Great news about Steve. Greg, too, is moving on up. He is now a FTO with the W. Sac. P.D. They seem to be recognizing him a lot for his leadership and his by-the-book approach to law enforcement. We're very proud of him, as you might guess!

We're expecting our 7th grandchild this Spring (Marc & Sally are expecting ... a boy). Seems like just yesterday that we had NO grandchildren ... Wow!

The holidays leave us pretty much tied up here with the business as usual, but it looks like maybe some snowfall (finally) this coming week. Actually ... on a personal level I can do without the snow, but it sure is good for business! :)

Jeff - love hearing about Chad's successes in wrestling! He's definitely a "chip off the old block", huh?

I see some of you have posted photos of yourself - has anyone figured out how to do that? I'm kinda stuck. Would appreciate some instructions! :)

Back to work - love to all,
    Margie

  19. Hello everyone! Good news. I just found out twenty minutes ago that I have been accepted to the University of Pacific! YES! I am so excited. Its not my first choice but its good to know that I have a place to go in the fall. Is it just me or does a Fraga going to UOP sound familiar? What do you think Aunt Maureen? Laughing out Loud!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yahoo Keith!!! We are so excited for you. That's a huge accomplishment. Katie's old boyfriend - Matt - is a senior there. He is studying Engineering. He is in a fraternity and has made lots of friends. Enjoy the ride!!!
    Aunt Kelli and Uncle Steve

  21. Congrats Keith! UOP is a great school :) What other colleges are you waiting to hear back from? What IS your 1st choice? As my mom said, my friend Matt goes there, he would be a really good person to shadow for a day if you wanted to check it out.

Hello everyone else :) The holidays are sure coming up fast! This coming week is finals week for a few of us (Carrie is already done and off to Paris!) I can't wait to wrap up the semester and celebrate, wish me luck on all my projects xoxo Katie

    ReplyDelete
  22. Way to go Keith!!! Yahoo! UOP turns out some outstanding graduates ... (ahem) like your Aunt Maureen! :} I'll just bet this is only the FIRST acceptance you'll get! (By the way, did you ever pursue the West Point idea we spoke about a few years ago? John knows some state legislators that we could approach for you if needed).
Well .... it's here - the SNOW! I have mixed feelings about snow actually ... it's great for business, but I sure don't like driving in it! Temps have stayed in the mid-thirties today and we understand this snow is likely to keep falling for the next two days. Maybe Dodge Ridge will open before Christmas after all. I'm sure they'll be opening in the Tahoe area too.
Katie - does Carrie know about the blog?
Hope the weather cooperates this year for the get-together at Maureen & Chris' in January.
Nice to see the additions to the blog - keep blogging! (Katie - I'll look into that idea you sent me last week - just didn't get to it last week). More later & love to all,
    Margie

  23. Hello, we are so very excited for Keith. We havn't seen him so excited in a long time. This is just the first one of 7 applications he has turned in. He didn't even contact them. They ASKED him to apply. I think it's just a relief to get one out of the way and know for sure that his hard work has paid off. He also got offered a partial (renewable) scholarship with the acceptance letter. We are VERY proud of him. Proud of both of them.
Chad is in full swing of wrestling and off to a tremendous start! He is now 9 wins and 2 loses. Lost to the # 4 ranked kid in section Sat in a close match and was sick to add to it. Then lost a close one: 3-1 from another strong kid from a powerhouse school: Union Mine out of Placerville. So, he is right there. He decided to go up to the heavyweight class and is doing well against much heavier wrestlers. Usually outweighed by 30 or more pounds. His years going to these big tournaments year round is paying off and is only a junior. He has some VERY big matches coming up soon. Going to a 2 day invitational at Modesto Jr Col this Fri and Sat. Will be kids from as far south as SD and as far north as Red Bluff. Should be a real test. All depends on where he sits in the bracket. I have lots of video if there is a way to post it I will.
Hope all is well with everyone and all have a GREAT Holiday!
    Peace
    Jeff

  24. Wayyyyy to go Chad! I sure wish I knew more about wrestling. All I know for sure is that we are SO PROUD of you! Keep up the good work!!! Know that you have family on your side and pushing for you ALL THE WAY! Jeff, thanks so much for sharing all this info ... things we never knew until this venue provided a way to share it! Yayyyy! You can't believe how nice it is for US to hear about what's happening with our nieces and nephews! It's a special deal for us and we are bragging to everyone! Keith ... we're waiting to hear about the NEXT acceptances, because we're pretty sure they will be coming. Be sure to keep us posted. Jeff ... snow is really falling here - a foot already in just 2 days - with much more to fall (so they say) in the next few days. Winter is really here. Hope we can hook up over the holidays - for sure, I hope, at Maureen's on the 3rd, but maybe afte that too! WAY TO GO GUYS! We love you!

  25. Oops - forgot to mention that we got the Christmas card today for Allyson & Steven and the Steve Fraga clan ... thanks so much! We save the Xmas card photos sent every year and include them in our family gallery that's in our hallway. Our friends and family (grandchildren) love to check them out and have us review the updates on everyone. It's fun! Family is so important, and your photos are a wonderful way to remind us of you year-round. Thanks!

  26. Dear Family,
We all owe Margie so many thanks for starting this...it is so much fun to get an e-mail letting me know that someone has posted!

Congrats to you Keith on your UOP acceptance...!!! And Chad, hearing about your wrestling competitions has been so great! Do you ever have any meets close to Sacramento? Maybe in Lodi or Elk Grove or? That would be so cool to be able to go to one!

I wanted to suggest that on the 3rd of January when many of us will be meeting at Maureen's (thank you Maureen and Chris for hosting!!!) maybe we could bring along any books we are done with to see if anyone else might be interested....?

Taylor arrived home from Orange on Friday. Michael flew down on Thursday and was able to watch the final films for Tay's cinematography class....and then the two of them drove home together....It is of course SO great to have him home now for about six weeks, although a lot of that time I am sure will be spent with his girlfriend, Jessie. She is a sophomore at USF, a theatre major, and is home for the holidays in Sacramento, too. Patrick is anxious for his winter break too....and will finish up on Friday. Hard to believe he is working on writing entrance essays to high schools!!! Yikes.

I just have to figure grades for all my classes and then I will have a semester break too....yay!

    Love to all.....Cathy.

  27. Hello, I was getting ready to send Maureen a recipe via email and then thought, maybe others are looking for an easy holiday recipe, no baking, to give as gifts, etc. PEANUT BUTTER & CHOCOLATE CHIP RICE KRISPIE BALLS
2 (1.4 oz) chocolate covered toffee candy bars (such as Heath Bar or Skor)
    2 cups Rice Krispies
    1/2 cup peanut butter
    16 regular size marshmallows
    1/4 cup semi-sweet choc. chips
    Canola oil
Directions: Leaving candy bars in wrappers, use a rolling pin to pound and crush bars into small pieces. Place Rice Krispies in a larget bowl & set aside. Place peanut butter in a medium microwave safe bowl and cook on high unitl hot, about 45 sec. Add marshmallows and cook on high until softened, about 30 seconds. Working QUICKLY, stir to combine mixture with Rice Krispies. Stir until evenly coated. Add crushed candy bars and choc. chips. Stir until combined. Coat hands with oil and shape mixture into spheres the size of small golf balls. Makes about 16 or so....I packaged these in small cellophane bags, 4 to a bag, and tied with a ribbon. These will keep up to one week at room temp. I doubled the recipe and it turned out great....

  28. Thanks for the recipe Cath..it sounds good! Congratulations again Keith, of course I think it would be great if you attended UOP, but I understand you have other choices.
Great job on your wrestling wins Chad.
We had a big surprise 16th birthday party for James on Saturday. It was SO fun and I actually think he was surprised. He has his permit now and driving with him is well...a bit scary! Can't hardly believe I have a kid old enough to drive (you all probably cannot believe it either). We will be leaving for Denver on Monday, Dec. 22nd and returning on the 29th. Then we look forward to seeing most of you on the 3rd. Thinking about making it a crab feed..with crab, salads and bread and dessert. What do you all think...I am sure Dad would love a "grilled crab sandwich." LOL

Allyson..what is your address? Also, thanks for the updates on your life..it's so good to hear from you. Also, what is your mom's address?

Carrie..going to Paris without me?!? Mon Dieu! Il faut bien que Je va avec toi. Alors, bon voyage.

That's it for now. Merry Christmas to all.

  32. Hello everyone! The holidays are fast approaching...

Maureen, my address is 31 Regency Court Chicopee MA 01020 and my mom's is 1457 Keuper Blvd Massillon OH 44646

I told my mom about the blog, but she isn't very good with computers. Next week when I am home at her house I will set her up with an account and everything. She has so much to share too!

I am still working on the last batch of christmas cards that will probably be sent out today! Steve and I are leaving Mass tomorrow morning to drive to Ohio and PA to see my mom, dad, brother and Steve's side of the family. Of course, we pick the one day that we are expected to have a HUGE snow storm! At least two feet, maybe more. Oh well, we will just have to drive really slow and allow a bunch of extra time.

Just finished up my last final yesterday. I am officaily done with all college classes. I will begin student teaching on January 20th, and I am really excited to get out there and work with kids!

Just wanted to send a quick hello to everyone. Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas.

You all have no idea how much I miss everyone in California. Talk to you soon!

  33. Hey Fragas,
I will bring some books to Maureen's. I'll see what I can gather up.

Taylor - I've been listening to the "filmspotting" podcast from Itunes. Do you know about this site? The two guys are informative and interesting to listen to. Hope we see you in January. Merry Chrismas. Kelli

  34. Allyson-
PLEASE let us know that you arrived in either PA or OH safely. You know ... it's one thing to NOT know something ... then you don't worry. But when you KNOW about something, then you WORRY! Since we live in the snow, I do know the treacherousness that goes with traveling in it, I'm well aware of how dangerous it can be. I do hope you will arrive safely and would appreciate a quick post to let us know you're OK. Funny how that works, huh? You've probably traveled many times in horrible conditions, but since I didn't know about it .. well, I didn't KNOW
. But when I KNOW, I'm concerned. So ... there you go. Give me a quick OK from whenever you pick this up. Love & Godspeed to you and Steven - from snow country!
    Aunt Margie

  38. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL MY DEAR FAMILY! Hope this finds everyone in the company of their loved ones and enjoying this beautiful day. Beautiful, of course, being relative ... it's snowing like the Big Dogs here. We certainly had a White Christmas. Looks like it's blown over now, though, so we can go out and start shoveling & plowing!
Facebook sounds interesting, Jeff -- not sure what that is, but will check it out. I'm still learning my way around this blog thing, tho! :)
Spoke with the kids this a.m. - Jack is now 2 so he kind got "into" it this year with his new glow-in-the-dark train set. Marc and Sally are in Pine Mountain Lake and will come over for lunch tomorrow. Nick is down in the Modesto area picking up the kids and will bring them up later today. We'll celebrate with them tomorrow evening at dinner here.
Looks like Greg & Becca & Jack probably won't make it to Maureen's on the 3rd - the PD is having a shift change that makes the 3rd his first day on new shift. :( (I guess you know how that goes, huh, Kelly & Steve?)
Well - that's it for now - gotta get the boots on and start shoveling! :)
    Much love to all,
    Margie & John
